On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that around 14,500 schools across the country would be built and upgraded under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) Yojana.
On September %, the occasion of Teacher's Day, the Prime Minister said the PM-SHRI schools would become model schools, summarizing the in-depth spirit of the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister stated that today, on Teachers Day, I am glad to introduce a new initiative - the expansion and upgradation of 14,500 schools across the nation under the (PM-SHRI) Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India Yojana. These will become model schools that will enclose the entire spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
Narendra Modi informed that the PM-SHRI schools would have a contemporary, transformational, and holistic approach to imparting education. Priority will be on a discovery-oriented and learning-centric way of teaching. It will also focus on modern infrastructure, including the latest technology, smart or digital classrooms, sports, and much more.
While noting that the NEP has positively transformed the education sector in recent years, he added he is beyond doubt that the PM-SHRI schools will further aid lakhs of students across the nation in the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
