Recently, the government of Ontario made some changes to the education system for the students. The variations are made in the size of the classrooms, introducing new elementary maths and a big ban on using mobile phones in the classroom. Sexual Education will also be taught as a new part of the curriculum. Education Minister Lisa Thompson said this will help the learners from any kind of distractions and this idea was supported by almost 97% of participants.

The average class size will also be adjusted from 22 to 28 for Secondary Grades 9 to 12. Thompson especially mentioned that there will be no loss of jobs due to the class-size strategy. But it has been a matter of concern for some associations including the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association.

Hiring practices will also be reviewed as part of the reforms to increase transparency. Through this, the government wishes to give the Principals and Boards the authority to hire teachers to fit for the role and based on their merit.
