The SRM University, AP has received financial aid from the Centre for 03 major research projects in different disciplines of science.

The Union Department of Science and Technology in partnership with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology are financing the projects under the NSM (National Supercomputing Mission), as per the released statement from the University.

Associate Dean from the SRM Biology Department Prof C Durga Rao, also the principal investigator, has been selected for a project to research the implications to improve the development of human vaccine strains by comprehending the molecular basis for the maximum differential level of expression of human genes and animal rotaviruses in gene-transfected cells. The Department of Biotechnology has granted the aid of Rs. 1.10 crore to Prof Rao to perform cell culture and virus regarding research at the University.

Prof Ranjit Thapa from the Department of Physics is leading a research project which aims at detecting the best catalysts to convert CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) into a useful product. This project has also been chosen by the National Supercomputing Mission.

An Assistant Professor of Chemistry Mahesh Kumar Ravva is leading another project and has also been awarded the grant under the NSM. The project will aim at understanding the critical factors that impact the performance of the organic solar cells, as notified by the University.

The Centre has released the first allotment of Rs. 28 lakh as grant.
