On Friday, the Cloud major announced that the University of Delhi is using AWS Cloud in order to facilitate the adoption of Samarth eGov- an open source automation e-governance platform across India's universities and higher education institutions (HEIs) and desires to digitize 500 HEIs by next year.
Samarth eGov has already been adopted by more than 200 Indian universities and HEIs, including more than 40 central and state universities and more than 100 colleges. The next stage of Samarth eGov's adoption is anticipated to reach more than 500 HEIs by 2023.
Joint Director, University of Delhi South Campus, Professor Sanjeev Singh, said that Samarth eGov is developed- as an open-source, interconnected, secure, scalable, and highly flexible platform, delivered on a software-as-a-service model with a cloud-first approach on AWS. Sanjeev Singh added that it could manage the diverse and increasing demands of universities and higher education institutions across India, regardless of the state they belong to or the language they choose to associate with.
The suite provides universities and HEIs with an automation engine to resettle from paper-based and traditional third-party enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to a more secure, steadfast, and scalable platform that normalizes and automates digital procedures and workflows. Samarth eGov leverages AWS services to process over 7.6 million student admission applications, operate over 600,000 faculty and staff recruitment applications, and manage over 7.5 million student records nationwide.
Rahul Sharma, Regional Head, Public Sector AISPL, AWS India & South Asia, stated that we congratulate the University of Delhi for implementing Samarth eGov- a pioneering initiative in the higher education sector of India and addressing common challenges faced by education institutions.
The Cloud company said that with Samarth eGov, students could efficiently access the necessary information on courses, selection criteria, registration, admission, and fee payments online. Education institutions can also improve student outcomes by automating procedures like handling teaching schedules and freeing up educators' time to concentrate on teaching activities, such as offering personalized lessons based on students' performance.
