TN Govt To Start Foreign Language Classes For Final Year Engineering Students

The Higher Education Minister of Tamil Nadu state K Ponmudi has informed that the foreign languages will now be taught to the final year engineering students. With this initiative, the aim of the govt is to enhance the employment and research opportunities for Indian students in foreign countries.
Under the initiative, the students of govt and govt-aided colleges will be taught Japanese, German, Russian, French, and Chinese languages.
Minister Ponmudi, while discussing the department's grant, also informed that govt will introduce the diploma programmes in Tamil medium in the upcoming session in mechanical and civil engineering streams. Gradually, this programme will also be extended to other subjects, he added.
To increase the women enrolment and their employment opportunities, the Govt will also start women friendly diploma and short-term certificate programmes in office management, computer applications, interior decoration, CAD, web designing, and ECG, bio-medical electronics.
The Minister also announced that the department will also take measures to permit lateral entry of the students to BCom (2nd year) after completing Diploma in Commercial & Computer Practice and Diploma in Commercial Practice.
The writers below the age of 18 years will be awarded Kavimani Award to encourage their passions, informed Anbil Mahesk, the School Education Minister. The Govt will also award a prize money worth Rs. 25,000 to top three writers, along with a medal and a certificate, he added.
