The Union Public Service Commission has taken the decision to open a new centre in Leh for Civil Services Examination for the candidates from UT Ladakh which has brought a huge sigh of relief for the aspiring candidates from the region.

This will make LEH the 73rd centre in the nation to conduct the preliminary examination which is scheduled to be held on June 27, 2021. Vasudha Mishra, UPSC Secretary, while communicating with Umang Narula, UT Ladakh Advisor, informed the decision to set up a centre in Leh for Ladakh.

The coordinating supervisor of the Leh centre will be the Leh Deputy Commissioner whose duty will be to ensure the infrastructure, accessibility and other parameters at the exam centres as specified by the UPSC.

From Union Territory Ladakh, there is an expectation of around 800 candidates to take part in the preliminary civil services examination.

Earlier the UT Administration successfully conducted the NEET exam amidst the pandemic and now, they are willing to make all the efforts to meet the UPSC criteria by the cutoff dates.
