Significance: World NGO Day

Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) play a very influential role in our society. They help fill the void left by governmental agencies in human rights issues, social and environmental problems, the rights of children, and animal welfare. NGOs also undertake advocacy on these problems and force governments toward the right course of action.
