In a promising collaboration, IIT Roorkee and IIT Bhilai have formalized an MoU, marking a significant step towards enhanced academic and research partnerships.



This collaboration aims to strengthen the preservation and advancement of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) while focusing on fostering socio-economic growth in tribal areas. The strategic alliance places special emphasis on researching traditional medicinal plants, studying tribal cultures, understanding agricultural practices in tribal regions, and promoting financial literacy among tribal communities.



As highlighted in an official statement released by the institutes, this partnership signifies a commendable stride towards educating the youth about India's rich cultural heritage, aligning with the Government of India's visionary goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.



Furthermore, this alliance intends to actively uphold the principles set forth in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, accentuating the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems into the educational tapestry.



Under this MoU, both IITs aim to foster knowledge exchange, nurturing Indian culture and knowledge systems. Their joint initiatives will delve into sustainable rural development, ancient Indian sciences, fintech, healthcare, agriculture, artificial intelligence, alternative medicine, life management, environmental conservation, renewable energy, food processing, tourism management, languages, peace initiatives, musical traditions, humanities, and more.



Moreover, this partnership involves the joint organization of seminars, symposiums, conferences, workshops, and short-term training programs. These collaborative endeavors seek to enrich the academic fabric, fostering interdisciplinary learning experiences and promoting innovation and holistic growth among students and researchers from both institutions.



The MoU signing ceremony, hosted by IIT Bhilai, witnessed the participation of Professor K K Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, and Professor Rajiv Prakash, Director of IIT Bhilai, cementing their commitment to this visionary venture.
