Embarking on an unprecedented journey, the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has unveiled a three-month training initiative focusing on Drone Technology. This trailblazing programme caters to Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks Officers (OR) from the armed forces seeking a seamless transition into the corporate sphere following retirement.



The current cohort comprises 30 participants drawn from various branches of the armed forces, highlighting the growing relevance and interest in this pioneering programme.



The curriculum of this cutting-edge course brings together theoretical foundations and hands-on application, offering a comprehensive grasp of entrepreneurial prospects within the sphere of Drone Technology. It spans an array of subjects, encompassing Mathematics, Computing Foundations, Drone Technology, and the fundamental aspects of Electrical, Electronics & Mechanical Engineering. Alongside these, immersive practical sessions delve into Flight Simulator exercises, Risk Assessment and analysis, Drone Equipment Maintenance, the practical utilization of Drone Data and analysis, Robotics, and 3D Printing technologies.

Brigadier Rajeev Kapur, SM, Assistant Director General of the Directorate General of Resettlement (DRZ), underscores the program's significance in facilitating a smooth transition for retired service personnel. Beyond merely imparting knowledge about Drone Technology and its applications, the course aims to offer a holistic understanding of the corporate realm, bridging the gap between military and civilian careers seamlessly.
