The Educational Testing Service (ETS) has introduced changes to its testing procedures, influenced by stakeholder feedback and evolving student experiences. For the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the duration has been reduced to under two hours, with an updated writing task and a streamlined reading section. Additionally, unscored test questions have been removed for a more straightforward experience. Similarly, for the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE), the test duration was halved, with faster result turnaround times catering to market feedback.

Regarding the validity and reliability of assessments, ETS reassures the adherence to stringent standards. The organization asserts its commitment to ensuring assessments accurately measure intended skills, employing technologies like facial and voice recognition to uphold testing integrity.
Furthermore, ETS emphasizes the 'office of testing integrity' and the appointment of a chief security officer to investigate irregularities and prevent unfair practices. With a focus on detecting and remediating instances of cheating, the organization aims to safeguard the interests of the majority of honest test-takers. Technologies like facial and voice recognition are used, especially for 'at-home' tests, to prevent external influences and software interference during assessments.
