The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) recently presented a pioneering study on Advanced Grid-Scale Energy Storage Technologies. This collaborative initiative between MNRE and IIT Roorkee signifies a significant step toward informed decision-making and transformative strides in India's renewable energy sector. The study delves into grid-scale energy storage solutions essential for India's energy sustainability, focusing on sustainable energy solutions.



The study highlights pivotal elements of the power sector, underlining the urgent need for a resilient and sustainable energy landscape in India. It offers actionable insights that aim to reinforce the integration of renewable energy sources and optimize grid-scale energy storage efficiency, aligning with India's ambitious renewable energy objectives.



Dr. Ajay Mathur commended India's leadership in global renewable energy adoption, emphasizing the pivotal role of energy storage in ensuring grid stability and facilitating the widespread use of renewable energy sources. He emphasized the report's timeliness and significance, stating, "As these technologies are rapidly adopted, energy storage becomes imperative for grid stability. This report presents timely and invaluable insights for the sustainable progression of our energy landscape."



This insightful research, spearheaded by Prof Arun Kumar, was unveiled at the Atal Akshaya Urja Bhawan, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) in New Delhi. Distinguished personalities, including BS Bhalla, Secretary of MNRE, Dr. Ajay Mathur from the International Solar Alliance, and Prof KK Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, graced the event.
