Every year on April 22 the Earth Dy is celebrated to assist the cause of Environmental Protection. The first draft to celebrate Earth Day was proposed in 1969 at the UNICEF conference (in San Francisco) by John McConnelll (Peace Activist) to celebrate the Earth and the concept of Peace and the first Earth Day was celebrated on 22 April 1970. Some communities celebrate an entire week or 'Earth Week' with activities focusing on environmental issues.
The landmark 'Paris Agreement' was signed on Earth Day, 2016 within the UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) for the historic draft 'Climate Protection Treaty' which deals with Greenhouse Gas Emission Mitigation, Adaptation, & Finances.
This year, the 50th anniversary is being celebrated and the theme for this year is CLIMATE ACTION.
On this Earth Day, we all must do our bit to make the Earth habitable for us and our future generation.
