About Kargil War

On July 26, 1999, the Indian soldiers finally defeated Pakistan, and Kargil War was the last time India and Pakistan reached a full-blown armed battle and was the first time India and Pakistan had an armed dispute after becoming nuclear powers. The Kargil war was provoked by the Pakistan army when they seized the strategic mountain peaks in India across the Line of Control. On this day, Indian soldiers finally recaptured the mountain heights seized by the Pakistan intruders, and the war formally came to an end.

The conflict continued for months, and by the end of May, the IAF (Indian Air Force) began a limited strike. Indian Air Force lost one of its helicopters and two fighter jets. Thus, the Indian aggression multiplied in June and July to take back the area secretly colonized by the Pakistan Army. After this, over the next few weeks, Indian soldiers fought fearlessly to recapture the heights of Kargil. In return, India launched a diplomatic storm and military to move the Pakistani intruders off the apprehended heights and to isolate Islamabad on a global level. The battle for the highest peak in the Kargil-Drass sector, Tiger Hill, was the turning point. After an 11-hour-long run of war, the Indian Army finally recaptured Tiger Hill. Therefore, India succeeded in recapturing all the peaks by July 26, 1999, and brought the Kargil Conflict to an end.
