Every year on July 01, National Doctors' Day is celebrated by the IMA (Indian Medical Association) to recognize the efforts of the doctors and healthcare workers who serve people at their life's risk.
The day also commemorates the birth and death anniversary of the former Chief Minister of Bengal Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who was a great doctor and made a tremendous contribution to the medical stream.
He was also conferred with the Bharat Ratna honour. He played a crucial role in establishing famous medical institutions like Chittaranjan Seva Sadan, Jadavpur T.B. Hospital, Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital, Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, Victoria Institution (college), and the Chittaranjan Seva Sadan.
Amid the COVID pandemic, the medical doctors have been working tirelessly to save several lives by risking their own.
The 2021 theme for the National Doctors' Day is 'Save The Saviours'.
