Every year on May 11, National Technology Day is celebrated to commemorate the technological and innovative excellence in the country. The first day was celebrated in 1999. Every year the day is celebrated by the Technology Development Board and the awards are also given to the chosen individuals for their scientific contribution to India.



The other interesting facts related to this particular day are:





  • India conducted its first successful Nuclear Test on 11 May 1998 at Pokhran.




  • The indigenously developed 'Hansa-3' was also test flown on this day. The aircraft was developed jointly by the NAL (National Aerospace Laboratories) and the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research).




  • DRDO (Defence Research Development Organisation) also completed the final test fire of the 'Trishul' Missile (surface-to-air missile) on the same day.
