Every year, National Education Day in India is observed on November 11 in order to celebrate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. India celebrates National Education Day to acknowledge and honour contributions made by Maulana Abdul for India's education system.

About: Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad



Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad was born 1888 on November 11. He was an Indian independence activist who played a considerable position as a senior leader in the Indian National Congress.



Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad was the first Education Minister of India who played a significant role in enhancing the Indian education structure.



History & Significance



Maulana Azad was an outstanding freedom fighter and educationist dedicated to improving and reshaping the Indian education system. Maulana Abdul also strongly supported women's education. He deserves the credit for executing the modern education system.



National Education Day plays a significant role in improving the Indian education system. As a leader, Maulana Abul stressed girl education and mandatory education for children under the age of 14 years. He also focused on fundamental education and considered technical education that includes vocational training for all children.
