WCID or World Creativity and Innovation Day is celebrated on April 21 and is a global UN day. The main motive of this day is to raise awareness around the importance of creativity and innovation among the people. The day was created with the support of 80 countries under UN resolution 71/284. The first time the day was celebrated on April 21, 2018. Apart from that, the purpose of the day is to encourage creative thinking at the individual and group levels. According to a special report on the creative economy by UNESCO, UNDP, and UNOSSC, they stated that it has become the true wealth of nations in the 21st century.

Have you ever pondered that everything around us is an outcome of creative minds thinking differently, taking risks, and learning from trial and error? Or we can say that everything that we do is nothing but a creative act.

The WCID was founded in Toronto, Canada on 25 May 2001 and the founder was Marci Segal, a Canadian citizen, who was studying creativity in 1977 at the International Center for Studies in Creativity. She decided to create a World Creativity and Innovation Day when the headline 'Canada in Creativity Crisis' appeared on the National Post. Because she believed that at the time of need if people utilize their natural ability to generate new ideas, make new decisions, take new actions, and achieve new outcomes, a better place can be created.

Creativity and Innovation, have become the true wealth of nations in the 21st century, at both the individual and group levels. The UN through this day wants to highlight the importance of creativity and innovation to achieve sustainable development goals. This year, it has creative ideas to stop the spread of coronavirus.
