World Engineering Day is celebrated on September 15 each year as the birth anniversary of Visvesvaraya. This day represents an honor to the greatest Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The theme of the day is "Role of Engineers in a developing India".



Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was also known as Sir MV. He was the builder of India as he constructed dams and water systems which improved the irrigation facilities. Not only this, but his great action also saved innumerable individuals from floods.



In the 20th century, he was one of the eminent builders of our nation. He is also an Economist and Statesman. He was also the Chief Engineer and had the responsibility for the manufacturing of the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysore that was the largest in Asia at the time.



Moving on, Visvesvaraya also introduced Government Engineering College in 1917 in Bengaluru. This college later named as University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering.



Engineers play a crucial role in our life. The whole world celebrates this day to praise the efforts of engineers.
