Every Year on 8 May, the World Red Cross Day, also known as the 'World Red Cross' and 'Red Crescent Day', is celebrated to commemorate the principles of the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement. The day is celebrated to honor the JEAN HENRY DUNANT who was the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross. He was also the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.



The Red Cross Programmes are divided into 4 main groups:





  • Promoting humanitarian values and principles




  • Disaster response




  • Disaster Preparedness




  • Health and care in the community.





The seven principles of the society are: Humanity, Neutrality, Impartiality, Independence, Unity, Voluntary, Universality.
