The World Senior Citizen's Day is celebrated on 21 August each year. It was first announced by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December 14, 1990. It was first celebrated on 1 October,1991.The main motive of this day is to raise cognizance of the reasons that put adverse impact on the senior citizens which include abusive language for the elders and many more.





Moreover, this day provides the knowledge regarding the importance of older people to the community. Many events are organise in the world that includes the importance of elders and also about their personal experiences they have.


As per the report by the United Nations in 2050 there will be 2 billion people in which 20% of the population will be older. Apart from this, Asia have the largest number of elder citizens.








The World Senior Citizens Day is important to remind the responsibilities of the government to provide various amenities to older people. They must help them in the terms of proper food, accommodation and reduce poverty of the elderly people.
