The Jamia Millia Islamia's six research scholars have been awarded the prestigious PMRF (Prime Minister Research Scholarship). These scholarships have been awarded under the Lateral Entry Scheme of the drive held in Dec 2020.

For the institution, it is a matter of huge pride as Vice-Chancellor of the JMI Prof Najma Akhtar personally called all scholars to congratulate. She informed that out of six scholars, five are girl students. She also hoped that this opportunity would inspire others as well, especially girl students to excel in research and technology.

Prof Akhtar also acknowledged the Coordinator PMRF-JMI Prof Abdul Quaiyum's efforts for this incredible accomplishment.

The scholars are:

  • Momina, Civil Engineering

  • Fozia Tabasum, Civil Engineering

  • Azra Malik, Electrical Engineering

  • Aaliya Taiyab, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Sciences

  • Firoz Khan, Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology

  • Ashi Saif, Centre for Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences

These scholars would receive individually an amount of Rs. 70,000/ month for the first two years; for 3rd year, Rs. 75,000/ month; and for 4th and 5th years, Rs. 80,000/ month under the PMRF.
