Recently, McAfee has done a study and found out that 81 percent of the Indian people believe that schools should educate their children on cyber safety. Yes, many schools and educational institutions have found online education as an alternative; however, it has its own disadvantages.

Among the 81%, 62% people believed that there should be a separate curriculum for the students to teach them about digital wellness and protection. However, on the other hand, 27% of the people feel that it should be integrated with the IT subjects. Also, people accepted the fact that for the past year, at least one member in every family has started learning online through virtual platforms. 24% of the learners are between the age group of 5 to 12, while there are 9% of learners who are even under the age of five.

Both the teachers and students nowadays are operating in an environment that is not under their control. It is important for both of them to have knowledge about the basics of the Internet, like cyberbullying, cyber security, phishing, and others.

It is important for educational institutions to approach cyber security holistically as it has become one of the very important parts of a child’s life. Additionally, technology has been transforming the educational sector, and cyber security is required to be a part of the school curriculum. It will help in entrenching the way of teaching and learning.

Along with all this, in order to stay safe, it is necessary for both the teachers and guardians and students to scrutinize the emails and texts before replying and maximizing the privacy settings on the social profiles and engage in safe social networking by using the VPN, especially when that children are accessing the online learning services from home. It will help out in protecting the privacy of the Internet connection with high-level encryption. Also, it will stop hackers from stealing personal information like passwords, data, or any other information.

Along with providing other knowledge, it is also important for the school and institutions to educate children about the fake news and spotting the scam and making strong, complex passwords. It will help out in being socially safe.

The Internet world is changing, and so education is. In such a situation, in education, it is important to integrate Internet-related knowledge. Students must know what they should do if they face any sort of scam or Internet-related issue.
