The National Overseas Scholarship (NOS) Program for 2024 is aimed at assisting financially disadvantaged students from specific social groups in pursuing advanced degrees abroad. Here's a comprehensive overview of the eligibility criteria, application dates, selection process, and more:



The NOS program provides financial aid to students from Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers, and Traditional Artisans to pursue Master's or Ph.D. studies overseas.



Approximately 125 new scholarships are awarded each year, with 30% reserved for women candidates. The NOS portal will be open from February 15 to March 31, 2024, for submission of online applications.



Eligibility Criteria




  • Applicants must have received an offer of admission from one of the top 500 ranked international institutions according to the latest QS rankings.

  • Applicants should be below 35 years of age as of April 1 for the selection year.

  • The total family income should not exceed Rs. 8.00 lakh per year in the previous financial year.

  • A minimum of 60% marks or equivalent grade in the previous qualifying examination is required.



Selection Process




  • Applicants must provide their Aadhar card details and obtain a firm offer of admission from a foreign institution listed in the top 500 rankings.

  • Two rounds of selection will be conducted based on the rank of the foreign universities or institutions from which candidates have received offers of admission.

  • Merit lists will be created in each round, and scholarships will be awarded according to this merit list.
