In an announcement during the recent Cabinet assembly in Tinsukia, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a series of pioneering initiatives to reshape various facets of Assam. Among these initiatives, a groundbreaking move was revealed—a commitment to allocate 5 percent of seats in government engineering colleges for students who completed their schooling from class 7 to 12 in state-run schools. This strategic decision aims to significantly boost enrollment rates in public educational institutions, ensuring wider accessibility to quality education.

In a departure from initial discussions, the reserved 5 percent seats will be exclusively designated for BTech/BE courses in government engineering colleges, signaling a progressive shift in educational policy frameworks.

The government further solidified its dedication to catalyzing economic growth by endorsing a substantial budget of Rs 438.27 crore for three transformative projects aligned with Assam's Industrial and Investment Policy of 2019. These ventures encompass the establishment of a bamboo crash barrier manufacturing unit in Bongaigaon, the forthcoming Tata Group hotel in Kaziranga, and the development of a second Radisson Blu hotel in Guwahati. The anticipated outcome of these endeavors is the creation of approximately 1,400 employment opportunities, laying a solid foundation for the state's economic progress.

In a concerted effort to bolster societal welfare, the government introduced the formation of a specialized Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Authority in Assam, under the stewardship of an esteemed IAS officer. This strategic maneuver aims to attract additional CSR funds, directing them toward a diverse range of developmental projects across the state.
