To augment the research acumen of medical postgraduates (PG) and faculty members across medical institutions in India, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has rolled out a comprehensive research methodology course named the 'Basic Course in Biomedical Research.'

This cutting-edge online program, orchestrated by the ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology (ICMR-NIE) located in Chennai, is structured to impart fundamental research methodology concepts in healthcare. The course curriculum encompasses dynamic video lectures and curated reading materials. Participants will receive a certification upon successfully navigating lecture-based assignments and a conclusive proctored examination.

The unique flexibility of this initiative lies in its open enrollment system, allowing interested individuals to register at their convenience. Not bounded by fixed deadlines, this course provides a liberal schedule for both registration and assignment submission.

Participants exert control over their learning course, enabling them to pace themselves. Once they achieve the prescribed cut-off scores in assignments, they become eligible for exam registration. A prerequisite entails a minimum score of 50 percent in each of the 23 lectures' assignments. Subsequently, they can proceed to register for the upcoming proctored exam session. Upon meeting the minimum criteria of 50 percent in each assignment for the 23 lectures, participants can access the exam registration link for the next scheduled examination date.

To enroll for the examination, candidates must fill out an online form and pay a ?1,000 examination fee digitally. Detailed information regarding city-wise examination centers will be provided during the registration process. Scheduled for February 25, 2024, the next examination date for this enriching course awaits aspiring candidates eager to enhance their research skills in the medical realm.
