Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is embarking on a new chapter of academic support by introducing four novel scholarships programs tailored for students specializing in Chemistry and Law.

This progressive initiative has been made possible through a generous donation of Rs 20 lakh received under the Pratidana initiative. Set to commence from the upcoming academic session in 2024-25, these scholarships mark a significant step towards supporting deserving scholars in their educational pursuits.

Madan Mohan Kayastha, an esteemed alumnus of BHU, and his wife, Santosh Kayastha, are the generous contributors behind this commendable initiative. Madan Mohan Kayastha's deep connection with the university, having completed his M.Tech. in Industrial Chemistry in 1951, underscores the heartfelt significance of their donation, dedicated to honoring their parents.

The scholarships, named in reverence to the parents of Madan Mohan Kayastha and Santosh Kayastha, aim to provide crucial financial assistance to deserving students in these fields. The Sita Ram and Ajudhia Devi Scholarships, honoring Mr. Kayastha's parents, will support a female student pursuing a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry and another in the inaugural year of M.Sc. (Chemistry) at the Institute of Science.

Similarly, the Bhagwati and Mulk Raj Mahajan Scholarships, a tribute to Mrs. Santosh Kayastha's parents, are designed to aid a female student in the initial year of BA. (LLB) Hons and another in the second year undertaking the LLM programme.

These scholarships underscore BHU's commitment to fostering academic excellence and supporting students' educational journeys in the domains of Chemistry and Law. They stand as a testament to the university's dedication to nurturing talent and facilitating the pursuit of academic brilliance.
