The collaboration between the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the British Council signaled a pivotal moment in education. In a landmark conference jointly organized, they aimed to explore innovative teaching methodologies in India's school education system.



Key figures, including Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of School Education, and representatives from various educational institutions and governing bodies, converged for this significant two-day event. Education experts from esteemed UK organizations like Alpha Plus, ECCTIS, and the Cambridge Partnership for Education also participated, engaging in sessions focused on empowering school leaders and educators with impactful teaching resources.



This conference highlighted findings from a comprehensive study commissioned by both entities. The study emphasized the importance of hands-on practical activities and fieldwork to enhance learning experiences in CBSE schools. It particularly emphasized fostering green skills, climate action, and a sustainability mindset.



Discussions revolved around crucial education aspects such as curriculum, pedagogy, assessment priorities for modern schools, computational thinking, and integrating environmental education in line with educational frameworks like NEP 2020 and NCF 2023.



Sanjay Kumar stressed the urgency of environmental education, emphasizing the need to instill an understanding of climate change and sustainability among students. Alison Barrett MBE, Director India, British Council, highlighted the significance of incorporating climate and sustainability into school curricula.



Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Director of Academics at CBSE, emphasized the importance of redefining pedagogy to equip students with essential skills for addressing environmental challenges.
