The ban on schools sponsored by Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT), an organization of the prohibited Jamaat-e-Islami, is "another type of torture" inflicted on the people of Jammu and Kashmir to "ruin" their future, according to PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti. She claims that education is the last "goal" after land ownership, resources, and jobs. Another sort of atrocity inflicted on the people of J&K to undermine their future is the move to eliminate FAT-affiliated schools. After land ownership, wealth, and jobs, education is the final goal. "I am confident that Kashmiris will triumph and will not allow their children to suffer," Mehbooba stated on Twitter

School Education Secretary Singh's notice also instructed chief education officers in various districts to close FAT-run schools within 15 days after consulting with the district administration.

It stated that all pupils enrolled in these prohibited institutions must enroll in nearby government schools for the current academic year. The order came in the wake of an inquiry by the State Investigation Agency of the Jammu and Kashmir Police into suspected gross illegalities, outright frauds, and widespread invasion of government lands by FAT.
