On Jan 16, the All India Council for Technical Education and the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education celebrated the 'National Start-up Day'. They also emphasized 75 innovative technologies with start-up potential which will receive mentorship, incubation linkage, and grants assistance support.

These innovations were selected during the Innovation Week as part of the e-exhibition. The Innovation Week started on Jan 10 with more than 500 innovations and startups who exhibited their projects virtually. The Innovation Week concluded on Jan 16 and Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi marked the day as 'National Start-up Day'.

These innovations and start-ups were shortlisted from a host of programs such as the Smart India Hackathon, National Innovation Contest, and Toycathon. The contests were held by the Ministry of Education.

The selected 75 start-ups and innovations have developed various technological services and solutions that will work across 16 different sectors and themes.

Other than this, the MIC and AICTE also offer several policy programs and handholding initiatives to support and promote startups and innovation in educational institutions.

The Chairman of AICTE Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe pointed out that, "Toycathon and Toy Business league are best platforms for both school and college students to collaborate with industries to commercialize their creative outputs". Around 55 toy manufacturers have collaborated with the winners of the Toycathon, until now, to manufacture and refine their products, he added.
