BITS Pilani & Australia’s RMIT University to Launch a Joint Academy Offering Dual Degrees
Students will begin studying at BITS, experience the RMIT educational environment via courses co-taught by BITS and RMIT faculty, and move to RMIT, Melbourne, for two years.

(BITS) Pilani- Birla Institute of Technology and Science has recently collaborated with RMIT University, Australia, in order to introduce a joint BITS-RMIT academy offering a dual degree. The institution will start four UG engineering programmes and a Ph.D. programme in mid-2023.



Students will begin studying at BITS, experience the RMIT educational environment via courses co-taught by BITS and RMIT faculty, and move to RMIT, Melbourne, for two years.



Vice-Chancellor, BITS Pilani, Professor Souvik Bhattacharyya, and Vice-Chancellor and President, RMIT University, Professor Alec Cameron, signed an agreement today in the presence of Australian Education Minister Jason Clare; Mathew Johnson, Australia’s Minister Counsellor (Education) to India; Barry Farrell, Australia’s High Commissioner to India, and other dignitaries.



Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor-designate, and Professor S K Barai also attended the signing ceremony.



Professor Bhattacharyya said the Academy would offer uniquely designed programmes leveraging the superiority and legacy of the BITS Pilani and RMIT University plans, with faculty, students, and researchers in close cooperation. We look forward to a new era of academic collaboration that will determine and provide the best attributes of a global graduate and citizen.



Cameron said the Academy observes a strategic measure in strengthening RMIT's profile and presence in India via collaborating with a high-performing University. This partnership spotlights the shared commitment of both institutions to shaping global-minded and work-ready graduates with international mobility.



He added that the Academy depicts a step in elevating RMIT's commitment to international education and research partnerships and strengthens our position as a leading university of impact. It adds to the growing list of high-quality education and research opportunities delivered by RMIT across the globe. We look forward to working closely with BITS Pilani in order to provide students with quality, unique learning experiences, and research opportunities.
