British Council has recently announced British Council Scholarships for Women in Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for the year 2023-2024. The Council will offer 26 scholarships and Fellowships reserved for women STEM scholars from India and other South Asian nations.
According to a press release issued by British Council, the chosen scholars from India can pursue a master’s degree or an Early Academic Fellowship at a UK university. The scholarship will offer tuition fees, travel costs, stipends, visas, health coverage fees, support for mothers, and even English language support. The scholarships will also deliver the scholars a platform to connect or interact with the UK through active engagement in the alumni network and inspire the next generation of women in STEM.
The scholarships will be granted to the students based on merit with no country-specific cap. This scholarship will also allow the women scholars to boost research and innovation in their home country via their exposure to the expertise in the UK’s well-known STEM fields.
As part of the programme, Indian women STEM scholars can register for master’s courses/programmes and Early Academic Fellowships across 21 UK-based universities in courses like Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Medicine, Environmental Engineering, Robotics, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Machine Learning, Information Technology, Renewable Energy & Energy Management and many more, as per the press statement.
In the academic year 2022-23, 21 Indian women received the scholarship and are currently studying in the United Kingdom (UK).
