As per the reports, CBI came to know that Manish Jain had sent the file for the formation of the advisory committee to the Staff Selection Commission. So he was called by the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) as they wanted to find out who directed or recommended the formation of the advisory committee.

Earlier, Manish Jain, the secretary of West Bengal Education, was questioned by CBI for some hours regarding their ongoing investigation into the alleged unlawful appointment of teachers by (WBSSC) West Bengal School Service Commission. According to the CBI resources, Manish Jain reached the CBI Nizam Palace at 11:30 am and was investigated continuously for several hours by the CBI officers.

Before Manish Jain, CBI also probed Chandra Adhikary, Minister for State Education, Partha Chatterjee, the former Education Minister, and Shanti Prasad Singh, the former chairman of the advisory committee, because of the illegal corruption in teacher recruitment. All of the names mentioned above were interrogated for several hours by CBI officers and detectives.

SSC candidates complained that they were not given a job despite reserving a place on the merit list. They complained about the dishonesty of the committee, and the High Court summoned CBI to investigate the roots of the scam in the recruitment of teachers.

As stated by CBI sources, during the investigation by the CBI, Manish Jain's name bobbed up in this alleged corruption. Many cases related to the teachers' recruitment scam are still pending with the High Court.
