Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to embrace linguistic diversity within the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools across the country. Breaking away from the traditional confines of Hindi and English as the sole mediums of instruction, a paradigm shift has been set in motion with the inclusion of 22 regional languages, including Odia, from standard 1 to 12.

In a circular issued on Friday, the CBSE has opened its doors for all languages, allowing students to embark on their educational journey in their mother tongues. Pradhan passionately emphasized that students thrive and grasp knowledge better when immersed in the familiarity of their language, transcending the barriers of Hindi or English.

Under the National Education Policy 2020, students can now learn in regional languages, fostering an enriched educational experience. Schools will extend their support and provisions to accommodate the desires of those wishing to learn in Odia or any other regional medium.

An equally important aspect of this initiative is collaborating with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in order to develop tailor-made textbooks, nurturing a seamless flow of knowledge in regional languages.

With unwavering commitment, Pradhan further assured that arrangements will be done to facilitate education and examinations in these newly embraced languages. Embracing the essence of the National Education Policy (NEP), this transformative step aims to empower students with clarity and understanding in any subject by cherishing the beauty of their own mother tongues.

Pradhan proudly shared on Twitter, celebrating the NEP's vision of honoring and cherishing all Indian languages. In the collective embrace of linguistic diversity, the nation paves the way toward a future where education surpasses language barriers, unlocking boundless opportunities for students nationwide.
