National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) BS (Data Science & Applications) Degree have collaborated today in order to introduce a contest to create Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) models on the basis of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Interested candidates can register for the content by visiting the official website- study.iitm.ac.in/ipl-contest.
Candidates can apply for the contest till April 13, 2023. All data scientists and enthusiasts can also register. Participants will analyse data for IPL cricket matches in order to develop efficient models utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning methods. Anyone with elementary coding learning and an interest in data science can apply and compete.
The participants will receive a data set consisting of different elements of past IPL matches, such as player or team performance, match results, etc. The contest aims to use this data to develop projections on Power Play scores made by teams for the forthcoming IPL matches.
This contest will operate throughout the whole IPL season, and competitors will gain points on the basis of the difference between the expected and actual scores. At the end of the season, the top-performing contestants will be rewarded prizes and honors during the annual techno-cultural event of the BS programme – Paradox ’23.
This contest is not restricted to just coders, as non-coders will also have another event which will be a non-competitive event named ‘Guess the score’. It is available to all the non-programmers who desire to participate without writing any code.
