On Saturday, Manish Sisodia, Delhi deputy chief minister, said that National Education Policy (NEP 2020) requires changes and “certain dots need to be connected” in the scheme.
In his address at a programme managed by the Delhi Teachers University, the deputy CM stated that policies related to education, should be given a 360-degree view and all elements, including teacher training, included in it. Manish Sisodia commented that changes are needed in the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
A few specific dots need to be changed in this policy. It is also the concept of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that education-related policies are granted a 360-degree view, and all segments including teacher training should be included.
According to an official statement, Sisodia claimed that the programme “Connecting the Dots” was carried out in order to discuss the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020. There is a “huge gap” in National Education Policy (NEP 2020), and it “cannot be enforced immediately.
While being argumentative, Manish Sisodia asked if we decide to enforce NEP in Delhi, who will teach the students of classes 9 to 12? What will be the qualification and capabilities of those teachers? Nothing has been discussed about that yet. There are so many gaps in the policy. Sisodia further added that the Delhi government has delivered “all conceivable facilities” to teachers in Delhi to be well-trained.
He added that the Delhi government is a part of the teacher training university, and they have offered all possible facilities for teachers to be well-trained. The teaching profession is highly respected but unfortunately not nurtured in society. He added that there was an extensive difference between drafting a policy and implementing it.
