New President Droupadi Murmu defined the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) as the pride of our nation as they had established to the world the capability of India in the disciplines of education and technology.

While addressing the closing ceremony of the diamond jubilee celebration of IIT- Delhi, President Murmuru stated that in more than one way, the story of IITs is the story of an INDEPENDENT INDIA. She highlighted the need for making educational institutes future-ready by saying that if the country takes steps to protect itself from the notions of the future, it can reap rich demographic dividends.

President Droupadi Murmu praised IITs for their contribution to India's enhanced standing on the global stage. She also glorified the hard work of the IIT faculty and said that faculty and alumni of IITs had expressed to the world India's brainpower.

She stated that some of those who pursued their education in IIT Delhi and other IITs are currently at the forefront of the digital revolution sweeping the world. Moreover, the influence and impact of the IITs have gone beyond science and technology. She added that IITians are leaders in every walk of life, whether in entrepreneurship, activism, politics, education, civil society, industry, literature, or journalism.
