Govt Launched 06 Tech Innovation Platforms For Global Competitive Manufacturing

The Government has launched 06 Technology Innovation Platforms which will focus on technology development. The platforms have been launched for globally competitive manufacturing in India.

Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, informed that the platforms have been launched to bring the technical resources of India and the concerned industry on a single platform to initiate and process the identification of technological issues faced by the domestic industry.

These platforms will promote the indigenous development of the key 'mother' manufacturing technologies through grand challenges.

The platforms will also promote industry including Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1, 2, & 3 companies, start-ups, raw material makers, domain professionals, R & D institutions and academia to provide technology suggestions, solutions, and opinions on manufacturing technologies related issues, notified the Ministry.

The Ministry further added that it will also promote the knowledge exchange related to research and development, among other technological aspects.

More than 39,000 students, institutes, experts, labs and industries have already registered on these platforms.

The platforms have been developed by CMTI (Central Manufacturing Technology Institute), IIT Madras, iCAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology), ARAI (Automotives Research Association of India), HMT and BHEL in association with IISc, Bengaluru.
