IBM in partnership with the Indian Institute of Science has announced the launch of the Hybrid Cloud Lab.
The Lab will be located at the IISc campus, Bengaluru and will start with an initial set of projects. These projects will involve students and faculty from the IISc Departments of Computer Science and Automation,
Computational and Data Sciences, and SuperComputing Education and Research Center along with scientists from IBM Research India Lab.
IBM states that the projects will build autonomous, self healing computing systems, create AI-based information management, develop AI systems to analyze human and machine languages and adopt microservices and optimization of cloud applications along with the advances for Coding in artificial intelligence.
To accelerate the innovation in AI and for wider adoption, the open-source community will be able to access the research work, added IBM.
Gargi Das Gupta, Director of IBM Research India, informed that the Hybrid Cloud platform is open and will jointly develop open-source software to provide security, portability and interoperability that can be easily accessed by the developers' community to accelerate Innovation.
According to the Institute for Business Value of IBM, the value derived from the single single platform, single cloud is 2.5 times less than the value derived from a hybrid, multi-cloud platform technology and operating model.
