On Monday, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad) joined hands with PwC India to establish the PwC ESG Research and Innovation Forum. This forum is encouraged by the efforts of the IIMA Endowment Fund (IIMAEF).

The initiative has been introduced in order to contribute to India’s commitment to the net zero agenda and forthcoming BRSR regulations by broadening and deepening the sustainability influence in the Indian industry.

Through this forum, IIM Ahmedabad aims to play a role in beginning the right conversations within environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) space in India and contributing towards thought supervision in ESG research, industry use matters, and timely guideline interventions.

PwC’s objective is to turn environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) theory into action by helping build outcomes that drive value and fuel growth while strengthening the environment and societies.

The release stated this forum would be instrumental in getting together a community of solvers (environmentalists, economists, strategists, sociologists, technologists), industry, and academia to work towards discovering solutions that can be embedded into diverse business functions effectively and for the long term.

Chairperson of PwC in India, Sanjeev Krishan, said ESG is achieving prominence in terms of the Government’s agenda be it gaining the Net Zero target by 2070, the NDC commitments for 2030, the vast product responsibility regulations, and SEBI’s BRSR limitations around reporting and disclosures. Achieving this requires a platform strategy that brings together appropriate stakeholders to ideate, align initiatives and develop roadmaps for acquiring interlinked goals. Moving beyond the approach and expediting actions will be critical to making an impact.
