The Indian Institute of Management, Indore in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh Government is developing 06 video-based modules to train school teachers in online teaching. The objective of these training modules is to enable around 3.07 lakh teachers from Class 01 to Class 12 to handle stress and manage their time proficiently during online teaching.
The virtual launch took place on Feb 01 by the Minister of School Education Inder Singh Parmar and Director of IIM Indore Prof Himanshu Rai in the presence of Principal Secretary of School Education Department Rashmi Arun Shami, Director of State Office of Education Dhanraju S, Commissioner of Public Education Jaishree Kumawat, and Additional Director of State Education Centre O L Mandloi.
The training module consists of 12 videos of 07 minutes each which will focus on enhancing the skills of teachers in three main fields: Self- Management, Time Management, and Stress Management. The videos will also include reading materials to be read before and after the videos and the multiple-choice type questions will also be asked at the end of each video which will be mandatory to clear to proceed to the next module. After clearing the online training modules, the teachers will be labelled as IIM Indore Certified Teachers.
The pandemic has affected the education sector severely, as mentioned by Parmar. He further added, "We are thankful to IIM Indore team for developing 03 videos for the school teachers as an effort to ensure that the pandemic doesn't affect education. A teacher plays an important role in nurturing a student as a good citizen". He further added, "A teacher needs to be efficient in time management and remain stress-free so that they are able to contribute effectively in a student's learning".
Prof Rai said, "These teaching modules aim to enable teachers in developing teaching skills by using internet-based tools. It's the culmination of six months of exhaustive work by our team which began with the detailed survey of 39,000 teachers to ascertain the multiple problems being faced by them".
