IIM Tiruchirappalli- On August 29, the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli inaugurated the Certificate Programme in Business Management for Defense Officers. The six-month programme is developed for the participating fifty defense officers to sharpen their learning of business management skills. In total, 50 officers would acquire education, of which twenty-two are from the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force, and six are from the Indian Army, including nine women officers.

The launching ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries- Lieutenant General A Arun, YSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, South offering the inaugural address. He appealed to the participating officers to absorb every bit of learning that the faculty and the programme had to offer. Lt. General gave his best wishes for the officers to go beyond the curriculum and not just achieve value from the institute but also mentor the other students on campus who had so many things to learn from the officers in uniform. He added that critical thinking, ample generosity, adaptability, good communication, grace, and empathy, are some qualities to carry with them during the six months of the programme.

Director IIM Tiruchirappalli, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, addressed the honorable gathering and spoke regarding the importance of entering the classroom with a fresh mind and learning new things or seeking to enhance in the domains they are already up-to-date. He also stressed the need to go the extra mile and put more effort than anticipated by the professors to fully enjoy the programme and imbibe the learnings in themselves better.

Chairperson, Executive Education and Consulting, Dr. Prashant Gupta, gave a brief on IIM Tiruchirappalli as an institute and the programmes offered to the students. He further explained how the certificate programme is an experience co-learning programme strived at making the officers adapt to management.

Programme Director, Professor Gopal V, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the participants of the programme and welcomed them to the IIM Trichy fraternity. He also extended his best wishes for the upgrading journey ahead and hoped that the officers and the faculty members could mutually learn.

Programme Director, Professor Vijaya V, delivered the vote of thanks to everyone. She expressed her thankfulness towards all and wished the participants success. The inaugural occasion finished with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph.
