Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru has signed a memorandum of understanding with CeNSE and Semiconductor plant gear maker Lam Research India.

The association will offer a sponsored fellowship program for 2nd-year MTech (Master of Technology) students, commencing in the academic year 2022-23.

Since 2014, Lam India has been a segment of CeNSE's (Centre for Nano Science and Engineering) industry affiliate program. It continues to engage with the centre to associate on multiple innovative projects to further the state of semiconductor technologies, added the company.

Rangesh Raghavan, Lam Research India's Corporate Vice President and General Manager, expressed delight on the collaboration and wish to continue their longstanding relationship with IISc.

The objective of the collaboration is to develop talent and drive technological innovation across the semiconductor industry. He added, "With access to a talent pool as strong as IISc's, we expect to significantly enhance Lam Research India’s innovation contribution to the ecosystem".

Through this MoU, the training and development of CeNSE MTech students will be facilitated as the work on advanced semiconductor technologies at Lam India will continue, he added.

The aim of this industry-sponsored CeNSE MTech fellowships is to attract talent from the traditional streams of engineering and science and expose them to fresh opportunities in the in-demand electronics and semiconductor manufacturing industry.
