The world's most economical COVID-19 test kit 'Corosure' has been developed by the IIT-Delhi (Indian Institute of Technology) which was launched by the HRD Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Minister of State HRD Mr. Sanjay Dhotre.

The Corosure has also been approved by the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research) and DCGI (Drug Controller General of India). The company Newtech Medical has launched an alternative method for the testing which is used in the kit.

The kit costs around Rs. 650 which is very low-cost as compared to the kits imported from other countries. It is estimated that the kit can be used for 02 million tests per month.

The standard of COVID testing in India could be altered by this test and not just in terms of cost.
