A statement from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) said researchers from IIT Delhi invented a robot named "Robomuse 5.0," developed to carry loads weighing up to 100 kg and can drag objects from one place to another. The researchers have designed the robot in such a way that it can be controlled and navigated easily.

Robomuse 5.0 technology has been certified by SVR InfoTech- a company from Pune, through cooperation with IIT Delhi's Technology Innovation Hub.

The robot's birth dates back to a task by the students of IIT Delhi for the Doordarshan-Robocon (DDR) competition in 2008, which has experienced changes over the years. Later, the developed robot was installed in the institute's Student Activity Center (SAC) in order to function autonomously for 24 hours until it was declared non-functional.

On the basis of the feedback received, Robomuse experienced several transformations over the next few years as part of BTech and MTech projects. The work was performed under the surveillance of SK Saha, Department of mechanical engineering at IIT Delhi.

SK Saha said Robomuse 5.0, with its ROS (Robot Operating System)-enabled characteristics, has a modular mechanical design with a zero turning radius. As a result, independent navigation and control are effortless and uncomplicated.

The robot was exhibited by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi) at exhibitions and discussions earlier in the year, and its software has been copyrighted.
