'Future Wireless Communication' is the subject of a new 12-month certificate programme offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad. Beginning August 1, 2022, the certificate programme will be offered. Students can register on the official website, fwc.iith.ac.in, if they want to apply for the Future Wireless Communication programme. The registration deadline is July 10, 2022.

According to the website for the Future Wireless Communication programme, the certificate programme will last a year and have a curriculum that includes four modules: Data handling and hardware programming, Signal processing and related hardware, communication engineering and standards, and hands-on training for 5G/6G projects.

The qualified students must hold a current diploma, BSc, BTech, or equivalent degree in any field of science or engineering. After presenting a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their institute, undergraduate (UG) engineering students may enrol in the programme during semester 8 of their first year. Candidates will be evaluated on their general aptitude and foundational math skills in a written test that will be used for admission.

The certificate programme at IIT Hyderabad costs a total of Rs 2.45 lakh. There will be two writing tests in July: July 10 and July 17. Candidates may show up on any of the test dates.

IIT Hyderabad released a statement saying, "IITH is one of the first firms in India to have successfully developed and commercialised 5G technology, including an NB-IoT chipset."

Program Coordinator GVV Sharma said, "The course is broken up into 4 modules, and students have the choice to finish any module and receive a certificate. A scholarship worth Rs 25,000 will be given to selected applicants each month until the programme is through. Along with the scholarship, the IITH 6G research project will give up to 50 pre-placement opportunities and 200 staff roles for R&D projects."

IITH Director B S Murty said, "The richness of information generated by the IITH 5G research programme must be swiftly disseminated to as many recent graduates as feasible in the nation. By teaching at least 500 engineers a year, this certificate programme will contribute to addressing the severe labour need in this industry."
