IIT Madras Join Hands with Israel Govt to Establish ‘India – Israel Centre of Water Technology
According to the signed agreement, the MoHUA will collaborate with Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation- MASHAV, to launch this new centre, which will be situated at the IIT Madras campus.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) has recently joined hands with the government of Israel in order to introduce an ‘India – Israel Centre of Water Technology’ (CoWT) in Water Resources Management & Water Technologies at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras campus.
A letter of Intent was signed by both parties in New Delhi on May 9, 2023, by Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India (GoI), Professor V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras and Naor Gilon, Ambassador of Israel to India. This letter was signed in the sight of S. Jaishankar and Eli Cohen, Hon’ble External Affairs Ministers of India and Israel, respectively, in the presence of Professor T. Pradeep, Institute Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
According to the signed agreement, the MoHUA will collaborate with Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation- MASHAV, to launch this new centre, which will be situated at the IIT Madras campus.
The primary purpose of this centre will be to guarantee the implementation of Israel’s finest technologies being rehearsed in a tailor-made context for the Indian conditions and work on sustainable management resolutions for the Indian water sector.
Through this centre, the two professionals from the two nations will work towards the mutual exchange of technology, literature, and scientific information and carry out conversations and consultations on different problems in the area with experts from both nations to address issues in drinking water and sewerage management and to invent new areas of intervention.
