Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and Tamil Nadu’s Department of School Education have joined hands to offer a richer learning experience to school students by devising and revamping the existing digital learning medium to an Assessment focused Learning Management System.
Presently, the classroom education of Tamil Nadu’s school students is supplemented via a digital learning platform- Education Management Information System. IIT Madras researchers will use their Artificial Intelligence and data science expertise to develop ways to improve the way assessments are held and the framework for academic material circulation.
Researchers will construct on the education department’s recent measures of taxonomy-based content mapping to build a broad range of tools. These include assessment creation, fraud detection, performance evaluation, and dashboards to monitor the learning advancement of students, as well as school and district-level monitoring.
This initiative will be directed by faculty, project associates, students, and channel counterparts of the Robert Bosch Centre of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), a centre at IIT Madras with a vision to develop and further the research, education and outreach activities in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
Education is one of the fundamental areas of research at RBCDSAI. The centre is presently seeking a study to determine successful delivery approaches for ICT in education to enhance learning outcomes.
Associate Professor at the Department of Management Studies and a core member of the Robert Bosch Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBCDSAI), Dr. Nandan Sudarsanam is the Principal Investigator of this joint effort from the IIT Madras’s side.
The initiative will be enforced in three phases.
- The first phase aims at content management for Educational material and assessment.
- The second phase aims to work towards delivery and feedback for educational material and assessment.
- The third phase will emphasize data Analytics, Dashboards, and Reporting system.
The purpose of this partnership is to deliver the student and teacher community of Tamil Nadu a more prosperous learning experience facilitated by the latest digital innovation in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning technologies.
AI can power the education sector by delivering 24/7 universal education, personalized mentoring depending on their fragile areas, helping the administration grade papers, assessing learning patterns, and much more.
