A startup from the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) has recently developed a cost-effective artificial Intelligence-based medical imaging solution that aims to revolutionise the early detection of hepatobiliary diseases, respiratory abnormalities, and genetic disorders in children, officials said.
The inventors at Dectrocel Healthcare have built a platform in which digital and analog chest X-Ray images of children are uploaded, and the algorithm can analyze respiratory abnormalities that have significant mortalities such as tuberculosis and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in a few minutes.
The co-founder of Dectrocel Healthcare and Research Private Limited, Saumya Shukla, said, "With Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, particularly in the context of health care, this epoch will notice the birth of super-intelligence and, with it, humans and machines expanding into the universe.
Shukla described that India has a population of 1.4 billion and, as per the medical reports, one in five individuals suffers from a chronic illness.
Hepatobiliary disorders, specifically malignancies, and respiratory diseases such as interstitial lung disease (ILD), COPD, and lung cancer are a global health crisis, and many current diagnostic solutions are pretty much concentrating on late-stage diseases, she added. "Most of these disorders do not have any significant symptoms at the start, making it critical to diagnose these at the preventative health care stage and allow early treatment.
To control this, Dectrocel Healthcare is working on developing affordable diagnostic instruments that can help in the early detection of such chronic conditions so that the patient has a good chance of getting healed with promising health results," Shukla said. The researchers proclaimed that created tools would allow early detection, deliver access to specialised health care, decline misdiagnosis cases, and manage unaffordability for the people at large.
Shukla added that technology loans the capability to bring specialized-level health care to the slimmest part of the world at a reasonable price point. At Dectrocel Healthcare, we have selected our home state of Uttar Pradesh to build this impact at scale, to begin with, and then repeat it nationally and globally.
