The Graduation route, initiated by UK Home Secretary Priti Patel, allows talented international graduates to work or seek employment in the UK for at least two years at any professional level.

In a statement, Patel said: “Within the UK government's immigration system, talented students from India and around the world now have the opportunity to embark on a career in the United Kingdom at the highest levels of business, arts, and science and technology.

Beneficiaries will receive an e-visa and will be able to easily access this status when their rights are required in the UK. This is a reasonable way to apply, meaning applicants no longer have to go to the UK

Citizenship and Visa Application Service or have to resubmit their biometrics. Users who can't use the app can still apply online but will need to visit the UK Citizenship and Visa Application Service.

The UK opened a new immigration route on Thursday that will benefit Indian students, allowing them to stay in the UK for longer after completing their graduation to find more job opportunities.

It is happening for the first time that a large number of applicants for a Graduate route will be able to apply digitally by using the "UK Immigration: ID Check" smartphone application. Successful applicants will receive an EVISA and will be able to obtain this status whenever required to demonstrate their rights in the UK.

The British High Commission said the change in the rules would benefit thousands of Indian students. Last year, over 556,000 Indian nationals were issued UK student visas, a 13% increase over the previous year, and Indians accounted for almost a quarter of all student visas issued by the UK.

The new approach, which is part of a system-based migration system, will help attract the best talent from around the world and ensure that companies can hire the most qualified from around the world to support existing skills in the world. There are no minimum wage requirements or numerical limits to allow graduates to work flexibly, change jobs and promote their careers as needed.

The Covid-19 agreement was recently added to the date on which students must enter the UK to qualify in that way if they start the course in 2020 and are unable to travel due to the on-going pandemic.
