QS has released the Best Student Rankings for 2023 and is informed by the perceptions of more than 98,000 existing and ex-students. This year in 2022, around 110 cities were assessed, and they all had to have a population of at least 250,00 in order to qualify. Several factors are there that contribute to the overall ranking of a city. These factors include desirability (perceptiveness of existing students), the presence of employers, the number of highly ranked universities, the feedback of ex-students, and affordability.

In the opinion of QS, England and London are the best cities in the world for students. After England and London, Seoul and Munich are the second places for students, followed by Melbourne, Tokyo, Sydney, Edinburg, Zurich, Berlin, and Paris.

The city ranking procedure is created to build an integrated assessment of a city, keeping in mind the following thing:

  • Ranking: QS World University Rankings 2023.

  • Desirability: Ratio of students who picked that city as their best destination to study, safety, and pollution levels.

  • Student Voice: an approach to sustainability, internationalization, and viewpoint on the affability of the city.

  • Affordability: The cost of tuition and living expenses.

  • Student Mix: The welcoming nature of the city to International students and the diversity of the student population.

  • Employment: Employers' discernment of graduates from the city's universities and youth employment rate.

According to QS Senior VP, London topped the charts by acquiring outstanding scores for the third successive year for the assortment of its student mix, the number of world top-class universities in the city, employer activity, and feedback of students on their overall experience in London. These factors made London #1 despite playing poorly on the affordability factor of the rankings.

The report of responses to the surveys from students who have studied in London proves that London offers exceptional economic, cultural, and educational opportunities for students. The two Universities in the city come among the ten best universities in the world, and it remains a world-leading educational hub. According to the QS measures, London is broadly becoming less affordable to the students, with just under a 90% decline in the Affordability metric.
